Hi, welcome to silkysteps.

The EYMP 5 unit has additional information to help.

The talking point website contains publications, development and details for SL and C needs

Forum search page will find threads and posts if you enter keywords or phrases from the unit's assessment criteria.

If you have access to a level 3 learner handbook it'll also support you in this unit -titles on amazon.co.uk

For 2.3 Explain how levels of speech and language development vary between children entering early years provision and need to be taken into account during settling in and planning.
You could consider ..
  • children's age and their stage of development
  • the amount of stimulation they have received
  • What their first language is - the language they speak at home
  • Personal individuality and how every child develops in their own way and has their own set of interests. Wher one child will show you and talk about a car another will be interested in tractors.
  • Difficulties with speech, language and communication - disability, impairement
  • Types of transition and the important of time for children to settle
  • Differentiating activities for each child so that the level of challenge is appropriate.
  • How planning reflects parents and carers involvement in children's settling in periods - adult support and the importance of parents and carers: do parents stay?
  • Consider how practitionrs interact with children - body language, verbal lanuag
Hth, enjoy the site xx
