Child study

Hi I need to do a longditudual child study over a least 3 months with a child under 3. Doing a least 5 observations. Using narrative, target child and time sampling. I have never done observations before on my own how do I go about doing it. Do I write about what say to the child if they ask me to help do I get actively involved in the observations? E.g by setting up the activity etc do I say what the other children are doing or saying to the child I'm observing or just focus on the child I'm observing? The areas of development I'm observing are communication, large physical, small physical, intellectual/cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural and Moral. Thanks

havent you been taught these and the varying methods? this is tock learning on the level 2 and enhanced on the three with more in depth methodology
if not youve jumped a lot of learning and will need to get some good books for research. the hobart and frankel one a practical guide is the one i use for teaching methods on level 2.

Hi thanks for your reply never been taught how to do them. I have done observations before but never in depth ones. In completed my level 2 In childcare and education in 2002. Feel a bit lost on my cypw level 3 at the moment. Started in June. Thanks for suggesting those books. Finding it a challenge as im in a childminding setting and work as a childminding assistant so it's only me and a childminder.
