Default Using old car tyres

Hi everyone I need a bit of advice. I intend to build a play area and I have been offered some old car tyres. I am not sure if there are any special measures I should take with them other than a good wash and clean, something at the back of my mind tells me I was told of certain things that I need to do or check but I cannot recall where to access the info. Does anyone else out there use old tyres and if so any help will be most welcome.

I have them in my garden as planters and they are great. I just gave them a good scrub - well the children did and they enjoyed it so much they went on the clean the buggies, ride on cars... it was a very wet day!! :jump:
