Bursary for the Fda degree!

I need to rant so forgive me, I also want to know, is anyone else is having the same problem?

When I started this foundation degree 3 years ago (I have now completed it) I had council funding because I met the criteria of working with primary children from year R to Year 6. On completion you were able to get a top-up bursary to do the BA Hons degree if you passed the foundation. I have since found out, that due to cut backs they have moved the criteria goal posts to only working with reception year to qualify for the bursary!! As my hours are working throughout the primary sector I have been declined any funding....they did ask if I was able to change my contract to work the hours solely in reception (wish it was that simple).

The cost will be an estimated £1,200 per academic year, that will be two, so I have to find £2,400 app. It would have worked out more financially viable to do the BA with QTS, except I couldn't afford that either.

I just don't understand how they can change it so last minute. I am now faced with the dilemma as to whether I get a loan to finish it to BA level or not even bother.

And, does anyone know what the foundation degree actually allows you to do on it's own merit??

I could have added some expletives when I think of the stress, heartache, tears, late or sleepless nights and juggling work and family life over the last three years to get this far and then be blocked at the last gate!!

Bl**d*y Co**nc*l

Rant over, I can't say I feel any better but if anyone has any advice or is in the same boat I would appreciate their views.

Default

simply get a loan like 99% of students out there. the chances of you earning over 28k in the cc sector is very low and tbh we have seen very generous funding over the years in early years. directgov website. when it comes down to it its supporting peope who ca support themselves like any other industry or closing a children's centre, be thankful for the support you have had (like i said most of us pay out own way!) and move on.
