Hi.
I have just today, finished my contract, we had our funding cut, I provide a service to families with children complex and additional needs,(some of these very complex both medically and additional) providing care for their children in their own homes, obviously they had to qualify for this help, but our funding came to an end, and the cuts meant the department I worked for could not find the funding to continue to provide the service.
I supported quite a few families who now will go without the additional support. These families were people who had a genuine reason to need the service I provided. It took months to build relationships, to become trained to each individual child's needs.
What makes me sick, is that the current government has a head that has experienced having a child with additional needs, and yet childrens services along with alot of other services has been hit the hardest.
Maybe he ought to refer back to how hard it can be, and try and preserve the best service that as a country we can provide.
Shelley.
