I wrote about how all information you hold on children and their families should be confidential. Parents know what information I hold on them and their children and can view it on request. The information you have should be accurate and relevant for it's purpose. It should be kept in a secure storage system so nobody else can access it . Information should only be shared with those who have a legal right and any information you do share should be on a 'need to know basis' only.

If you have already covered 301 knowledge re:data protection and confidentiality then you should be able to just x-reference - no need to duplicate if you have already covered in another unit.

If anyone is unsure how to x-reference please just ask and I will tell you how to do this.

This knowledge criteria is in 303 unit therefore you also need to be specific to the performance criteria of this unit - ie - your main focus needs to be on confidentiality/data protection regarding child observation records.

The how to guides available on this page of the DCSF website should also help with backing up policy & procedure: Sharing information
