hiya just done this piece. It stimulates the imagination + helps the child understand their background, lifestyle + culture. Helps develop language + communication skills. By providing different materials it helps the child be creative + use imagination. Allow plenty of time , this help with the childs concentration. Hats are very good as they are visual + the child can easily change character. if a child is role playing at being a chef then they can also learn about the food + veg they are `cooking` also another child could help lay the table for the `chef` so they get to improve their maths skills with counting out 4 plates. cup etc + it also helps with their colours i.e. 4 red plates, 4 blue cups + so on. hope this helps
