basically what problems might there be when trying to encourage maths and how to solve them.
school children for example when doing mathermatics the child may not be able to use simbols(digits etc) to do equasions and so to deal with this it may be easier to use objects for example instead of 2+2= have 2 buttons + 2 buttons = 4 buttons and have the buttons infront of the child as a visual aid. another problem that may occur is that parents or grand parents may teach the child to do mathermatics in one way while the child is taught differently in school which can lead to confusion, to resolve this there should be good communication between school and home through....eg parents evening so that the child can be taught the same at home and in school.
younger children: often confuse letters and numbers-to deal with this you could do flash cards etc, may write numbers backwards-allow time to develop writing skills, use rhymes etc about getting it right way- magic pen. they also only have a short concentration span, may not be intrested in numbers, find it hard to remember sequence 1,2,3 etc, may not understand concepts such as amount, number, shape, may confuse colours, may have limited verbal ability, may speak a different first language
child may be an active learner so less likely to learn from desk based stuff, lack of reasorces, SEN etc
sorry quick answer hope it helps
