Help SOS can any one help me please?

Can anyone help me with 337 L how adults expectations affect children's behaviour and can (where inappropriate) reinforce challenging behaviour.
I can't get my head round this one at all.

Oh you know that boy... his brother was here a couple of years ago and he was a right trouble causer... we'd best watch this one too!

Oh heck, another child from that Jones family. That's the 5th in a row... the last 2 were a bit strange. Oh well here we go again!

How are these opinions going to affect the children's outcomes?

Similarly you see John throwing a toy... out comes the Riddor form (oh yes it happens!), John in the naughty corner, mother informed, big fuss made of John's naughty behaviour... could you quite possibly be setting John up for a life of failure and expectation of bad behaviour because he has started to exhibit a trajectory schema?

Hth :)

it is important that adults have realistic expectations of a childs behaviour according to age, needs and abilities. Expectations that are too high may cause the child to feel that they are always in trouble (in above case who are the staff more likely to pick up bad behavior on jones family who seem to be trouble makers or another child ie smith family who are polite and kind?). this can cause a problem to childrens self esteem (if the latest jones child is instantly labelled bad before giving him a chance whats the likelihood of him living up to the staff members expectations?) children who believe they are 'naughty' give up trying to be good. On the other hand though if adults expectations are too low childrens social development is hindered (think back to smith family how much attention do you give a kind polite child compared to the loud naughty one?)
hope this helps and good luck with level 3
