K3D215- Children progress through different stages in a sequence however, the time that they get to each milestone depends on their abilities, experiences they have & opportunities availiable to them. For example, two children born on exactly the same day will not progress at the same time. If one goes to nursery, has lots of different experiences & interactions they may be more confident, have better language & social skills compared to the other if they are always at home only with one other person.
One child may be more mature & independant than another of the same age. Etc.
K3D216- A detailed knowledge of children's development allows you to know the stage of development they are at & if they find certain things too difficult or easy. It means you can plan effectively to meet the needs of individuals. Observing children allows you to find out if there are areas of a child's developemnt which need extra support & if with this extra support is not working, do you need to referr this to another professional such as a speech therapist, beahviour specialist etc
