Default K4D3875: the circumstances and rationale for formative and summative assessment

Hi guys and girls

I may be being a little bit dense but i'm struggling with this one:

"the circumstances and rationale for the use of formative and summative assessments within you setting or service"

Any help would be great!

Thanks

its the reason for using assesments (which meausure the childs learning and ability) on children in your setting or service and in what circumstances might you need to asses the children.

you may need to do this to asses what their paticular needs are, to compare with past and future records to see their progress/digression. if a childs displaying unwanted behaviour one of these may be done to identifi the reason, i.e are they finding things too hard or too easy? to see what stage of development they are at in order to plan and to promote their development etc

hope this helps

A formative use of assessment focuses on measuring progress-so-far in a curriculum sequence.

Summative assessment is the process of evaluating (and grading) the learning of students at a point in time
