Hiya,

425k02: How to create a compelling vision for an area of responsibility

How would you 'sell an area of responsibility to someone?
Safeguarding, sen, development, play, partnerships, activity provision, administration, finance, H&S .. shopping rota
Would you point out the positive, negative or both aspects of it?
Promote them, discard them or look for alternatives ..

How would you be able to explain about long term aims - what you hope it could become, what it involves, how it may expand on what is already in place, how it may reflect or impact on it .. who would benefit and how, what the level of support is and how to access information ..

You could look at the type of resources available to demonstate and example the responsibility - flip chart, powerpoint, tour, meeting, visit from a professional - what information would you include to build interest and inform ..

Creating a compelling vision from the beginning can be to see it for yourself before allowing another to take it on .. this enables you to find pitfalls and areas that once assigned may need ongoing support ...
  • Researching an area of responsibility
  • Finding out what it involves
  • Knowing how you can offer support
  • What agencies are or can be involved
A compelling vision - text or image based will attract, motivate, encourage and interest people in different ways. Making it factual can help with questions and ensure everyone knows what's being asked & again what's involved, being inventful with descriptions, hopes, aims & objectives can inspire .. these can be personal/professional choices on how to present the vision.

ezine article it focusses on sales & products but our area can be easily compared by looking at how our 'direction .. within an area of responsibiltiy might be a need to comply with agreeable regulation, look for new and current thinking, how we aim to evidence a settings good/outstanding provision, how we work in partnership with others, choose, select and are guided towards other networks and professionals, provide for the whole child and take care with their/ the setting's future .. this all combines and results in a 'product. One that you are able to know, discuss and hopefully be enthusiastic about

I hope this helps a little
xx

Hi, hope this helps a little ..

425K03 How to select and successfully apply different methods for communicating with people across an area of responsibility

What sort of communication routes do you have with colleagues, parents, other professionals within an area of responsibility.

These 'routes can become methods once a successful system has been established - when you know who to contact, when and why - updating & informing professionals on cases, new/ongoing concerns and in clarifying positions. How do you obtain current thinking, new guidance and how is this passed on to you - with and without initial contact.

What deadlines, renewals, reviews, appointments, meetings are made, how and who do you speak/email/communicate with to organise these. The type of forms/documents/questionaires/plans you may come across or use and what purpose they serve.

How do you look for feedback from those involved in communicating to ensure the methods are adequate and allow practice/provision to excel within each area of responsibility.

Can you use an example of need under the SEN area of responsibility, or how you communicate with your local early years department/Childrens services that would allow you a foothold into it all?

xx
