advice please
I am the keyworker of a child with challenging behaviour. Every day can be one long episode of incident after incident. Parents have complained that they aren't getting informed of everything, for instance, I've said to them he's had a good day and then he's gone home and told them he's done something naughty. If I've said he's had a good day, then I mean a good day by his standards, or even in relation to normal 3 year old behaviour - they all have their moments!
They want me to write down and send home every day each and every incident, even everything time he snatches a toy or says something (they say they are keeping a journal like this at home). I feel this is really negative and don't feel comfortable doing it, I am also struggling to find out what benefits there could be to doing this for him. Our area SENCO advised us to do ABC charts but not write down everything only the worst incidents.
What can I do? I want to refuse as I don't think it's a productive use of my time, I would be constantly writing, he's also not my only keychild. Do we have to inform parents of every tiny misdemeanour?
