The requirements of registration/approval and inspection of your childminding setting and activity according to the requirements of the regulatory authority within your Home Country
To become registered, first you’ll need to attend a pre-registration session where
you will find out more about becoming a childminder. Where You
receive lots of information at the session, including an application pack and
information about the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Once you’ve submitted your application and paid a registration fee, Ofsted will
advise you on how to apply for a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure, which
is a check to make sure there’s nothing in your history to prohibit you working
with children. All people aged 16 and over who are regularly in your home must
also have a Criminal Records Bureau disclosure (this includes members of your
family). From July 2010, you will also have to be registered with the Independent
Safeguarding Authority (ISA) as part of the Vetting and Barring Scheme.
You’ll need to complete a paediatric first-aid course (before you are registered) and
an introductory childcare course (within six months of registration).
An Ofsted inspector will arrange a convenient time to carry out a registration visit
where you will need to show how you meet the requirements of the EYFS.
