Smile Advice

Hi I just came across this website & hope I can get a lot of advice.
I am currently a childminder & doing my NVQ 3. However once I have my qualification I would like to go on & become an NVQ assessor. I have spoken to my local council who I am doing my NVQ through but the information they gave me is a little confusing. They told me that you have to have your NVQ for 3 years before you can go on & train for the A1 award it used to be a year but now it is changed. They said I will need to have two candidates to assess & this is best in a nursery setting. I told them that if I get a job now in a nursery how can I guarentee that there will be people there for me to assess as most nursery nurses already have a NVQ.
They didn't seem to understand that if I stopped childminding to go into a nursery I may have to end up leaving there as there is no one to assess. I am so confused & don't know what to do for the best. I have been a childminder since Feb 08. Does this not count towards experience as well.
If anyone could give me some advice I would be most grateful. Also what area's of assessing in childcare to do other that assessing childminders. Many Thanks
