i heard theres supposed to be another change to the ratios in august along with a few other things such as you know the standards have been put into the eyfs? well they used to be for birth to 8 but now the eyfs is only birth to 5 so from 5-8 theres no day care standards. another thing thats possibly going to change is the quolifications needed-in school nurserys they are thinking of saying that there needs to be a nursery teacher with TQS rather than just a level 3 or 4...
Qualifications come under the 10 year strategy and this is that an EYPS / teacher is in every setting (not just school nursery's) from 2015 and in children's centers from 2010 Has been in place for a while now hence the foundation degrees , EYPS and transformation fund to help everyone to achieve this.

Of course sustainability is another issue!! Who will pay the wages demanded by a TQS/ EYPS without compromising ratios... but hey with 1-13 this is covered isn't it. Less staff to pay for same child care.. but is it? we know it isn't --but it is believed because you are a degree level you can do so much more for/with the children and extra bodies for 3yr olds is not needed! You just need to grow all those extra arms , and legs and heads that are needed for 3 year olds.

Sorry to sound cynical but fully believe that PVI will disappear because of this.
