Hi there
As an assessor, when I assess this unit, i look at how staff protect not only themselves but also children. So for example if they are changing a babies nappy, how do they ensure that they can be overseen by members of staff? Even though staff are CRB cleard, it's good practice to protect yourself from any allegations that could be made by children or vice versa. Also, do you inform anyone where you are, what you are doing, do you leave doors open, or change in the room whilst still protecting the childrens privacy? Can your hands always be seen by others. Also if you are accompanying older children to the bathroom - do you assist where necessary but depending on age of child encourage independence and self help skills? E.g encourage them to pull up their own trousers? What does your settings policy state regarding protecting yourself and the children? These are all things that i look for and question my learners when i observe anything to do with changing the children etc!
Hope this helps x
