Default Inclusive Practice

Hi everyone,
Has anyone done the assignment on "All Of Us" inclusion checklist?

I am a childminder and have to rate my setting to either always seen, sometimes, or not seen to the points 1 - 12 on the EYFS disc on inclusion.
I am really stuck on question 1.

The attitudes and behaviour of practitioners, children and parents demonstate how unremarkable it is that disabled children are part of a wide
cross-section of the local community using the setting.

After I have answered all 12 questions I then have to describe the effectiveness of inclusive and anti-disminatory practice and the need for accountability to children, parents, families and other agencies.

Please help.

Look again at the statement...

The attitudes and behaviour of practitioners, children and parents demonstrate how unremarkable it is that disabled children are part of a wide cross-section of the local community using the setting.

You are the practitioner so you are examining your attitude to disability in the world around you.

Do you think it is normal for disabled children to use your setting? Or would you find it a little odd if a parent of a disabled child approached you?

What about parents? Do they comment that disabled children should go elsewhere or are they accepting of difference?

How about the children? Is disability something to be sniggered at or are disabled children welcomed and supported?
