305 Section 3

I am struggling to find a way to be observed on this section, in particular "Help children to protect themselves from abuse".

The children I work with are 3 years old. I was thinking along the lines of stranger danger books or doing a puppet show along the same theme, but I am worried about the age of the children and doing something that they will understand without scaring them.

Any ideas ??

Hi
I used a book called Topsy and Tim meet the Police by Jean and Gareth Anderson. This book is set around playgroup age and in the story the children act out a Stranger Danger theme, which is what I got the children to do.
Hope this helps

your assessor shouldn't expect you to experiment with something so delicate for an observation and as an aside why are you worrying about what she will observe! thats her job! . anyhow the best way is a professional discussion.

Thank you both for your help.

I agree with you about a professional discussion being the best way to cover this, but I have to be observed in this section. This section is about indications of child abuse, helping children to protect themselves from abuse, responding to a child's disclosure of abuse etc, how on earth do I can observed on this section if I have never being involved in the disclosure of abuse ? and if I did, the last thing on my mind would be asking to be observed !!!

I will chat to my assessor next week about it. Usually, my assessor observes me throughout a session going about my normal work, but I just find this Unit 'different' from the others.

I really do like this unit.
