Hi, thank you for the support.
Being an optional unit it will rely on the knowledge and understanding you've gained from the core units. Demonstrate is also a criteria that's meant to be observed by your assessor in the workplace - can you check when they'll be visiting?
Even though you might not of seen many referrals in your setting/placement they will know what this type of early intervention looks like ie. what part referral plays in their assessment and reporting procedures - a legal obligation of england's EYFS
Ask them if they have a referral policy, CAF forms, TAC or other early help and support documents that your county's local authority or safeguarding board uses.

Demonstrate in own practice how to encourage participation of children or young people during the referral process.
Your approach, knowledge and feelings about the referral process can encourage or discourage children and young people from taking part. If you're unsure about it, they will be. If you're positive & aware of the benefits and share that information, they too will see the potential impact.
Demonstrate in own practice how to support children or young people to make realistic and appropriate choices in terms of their referral options.
Your local authority/safeguarding board/GP/ will know the services that are available locally. Where they are, how close or far away and how they can be accessed, if they are free or private.
These are possible referral partners: colleagues in other organisations including:
education welfare
education psychologist
drug and alcohol teams
SENCO
youth offending team
behaviour and educational support teams (BEST)
support for gifted and talented students
Facilitate the referral process between the child or young person and the referral opportunity.
How you observe children in the setting, identify their needs, know how referral works in your setting, what agencies you contact and how the local authority is involved, how, what and when to report & share, all facilitates the process of making sure children have the very best opportunities to flourish.
