Default Critically explore the importance of assessment

Hello,

Can anyone give me any pointer on how to expand this below:

4.5 Critically explore the importance of assessment.
‘Assessments are the decisions you make after carrying out an observation and they enable you to put your plans into action.’ [5] By assessing a child, it can help highlight strengths they have and identify any gaps in their learning. It helps parents and practitioners to understand the child’s needs and by using these results it will form the basis for planning learning activities, play and care routines. Assessments are what informs effective planning for children's next steps. When assessing a child you should use information from the observations and the knowledge of the individual child. All assessments should be used to monitor a child’s progress.
They should be carried out regularly and there are two specific times when a young child’s development must be assessed. The first is a short written summary of the child’s development between two and three years. It must be based on the three prime areas of learning and note the areas where the child is striving, but particularly focus on any areas that the practitioners are concerned about.
The second is a report on progress, due at the final term of the year in which a child reaches five years. It is a specific EYFS profile and provides ‘parents, practitioners and teachers with a well-rounded picture of a child’s knowledge, understanding and abilities, their progress against expected levels and their readiness for school.’ [6] Each child must be assessed against the seventeen early learning goals.

Thanks in advance.
