I often help the school Parents associations when they organise the fair. Though not finding funding, I wondered if you ask local manufacturers for donations?
For example with a Letter headed paper, I ask Makro's for a donation towards our fair (we often get £10 which we use to buy supplies with)
We have got a local Banner shop to make us a banner (dates left empty so we can fill in each year) The Banner shop has put donated by them at the bottom - so it's free advertising.
Coca Cola Sweppes have also been very generous, just by sending in a letter with correct headed paper.
McDonalds have been generous with donating vouchers for raffles, they also give us ICE, and they have given us lots of drinks for the occasion (Water and fruit shoots). Last fair, I also blew up lots of McDonalds balloons to give to the children.
Dominoes pizza often attend our events (though not part of healthy eating or school policy) because it is out of school hours we get away with it, and people have a choice of eating BBQ, Pizza or other choices! Dominoes sells each (single portion) pizza for £2 and donates half of all proceeds back to school again!
I know it's different as it is for an older generation, but I just wanted to show the generosity of the local community near me. You just need a bit of cheek, Headed letters and some time to either write or pop in and see local business.
A mention in the newsletter or leaflets often sways them into helping ;-)
