Hi and welcome to silkysteps.

Intelligence and intelligent - how do you feel personally about the two words and what is your understanding of them?

Free dictionary - intelligence and intelligent which can mean in one way or another that intelligence has been measured.

Children have potentially unimaginable intelligence, their barrier to developing it is access. Our barriers to provide their access is funding, available resources, attitudes, people, environments, ocassions and activities.

If you can look up some of the synonyms for intelligence you'll see how diverse the area is.
Supporting it means providing opportunties to experience, discovery and understand situations, feelings, reactions and responses.

This thread is helpful, its for K3D218

There are quite a few threads for this unit & knowledge, if you use the search page and enter K3D219 they should be returned for you, narrow the search by adding intelligence.

Please enjoy the site & hope this helps a little

xx

Such a vast subject and are you after cognitive or emotional inteliigence?
I suggest if you have any books on early years just look up the subject in the index. If you have longer and want/are able to look at books such at

'How the child's mind develops' by David Cohen or

'Emotional Intelligence' by Daniel Goleman.

These are two of the 'newer' books on the subject as well as Piaget etc.
