Hi, a warm welcome to silkysteps. Words like continuity, familiarity, healthy and safe help to explain the importance of routines & a positive environment for children and families xx
When children experience transitions eg. when they journey to the setting and then leave their parents/a primary carer they'll find it reassuring to know what waits for them eg. the setting's daily activities, where things are and kept, smiling & welcoming faces, supportive and understanding people that recognise how upsetting it can be to have changes happen that you weren't expecting or maybe that aren't wanted.
Families will find a positive environment and routines beneficial as they too will emotionally want to know that their child is happy where they are going and is able to play, learn and develop whilst they move on to focus on their own work and daily commitments.
Unit 11 is also known as MU 2.8 -
OCR contribute to the support of positive environments
The CCLD 205 national occupational standard –
Prepare and Maintain environments to meet children’s needs is a useful read and the level 2 handbook available
on amazon will help you look at this and children's emotional development & individual needs more closely.
I hope this helps, best wishes xx
