would like to start nvq level 4 in september - Silkysteps early years forum

Need to decide if to do it at the open university or a private training provider has anyone used one of these. Help not sure which to use.

I used a nvq centre, the assessor was very helpful. we had workshops once a fortnight sometimes once a month most of my work was emailed to her to be checked, she came out and did some obs and checked work and helped to plan my work, i have no experience of the OU so cant really say what they are like.
I think if you really want to go for it, you need to decide how you want to do it, whats right for you, and stick at it, if you are determinded you can do it. I found it very daunting at first not ever having done an NVQ i had a diploma in preschool practice, I found the jargon, the way it was recorded a lot to get my head round, but I soon got the hang of it. I did level 4 in a year which was hard going but achieveable.

I'm about just over half way through an nvq 4 and like Brandy said when I started I really didnt have a clue!!
My last comment by my asessor was that she was pleased that I was taking control of my nvq - I think thats a polite way of saying I think your'e getting the hang of it!!!
I certainly havent found it easy - it has been a challange lots of writing and studying but my practice, knowlede and confidence in what I can and am doing has improved.
My friend is doing the E123 and E124 which she too has found challanging but as she has handed in more assigmnents her marks have got better as she now knows what they are looking for.
The only bad thing about an nvq is that I have been told it dosent count towards further training where as doing the e123 and e124 gives you a level 4and counts as the first year of a foundation degree!! ( I may be wrong!)

Spoke to a level 4 assesor today they said depending on which units you took it would count to the full founation degree.

Did not ask which units counted. Just told when I started they would advise me. Who are you doing your nvq level 4 with.
