I have a question CCLD Level 3 Unit 41

Hi, I'm currently doing my optional unit on Autism and am really stuck. Could someone who has done this give me some pointers on these questions please:-

2.4 explain the challenges of inclusion of children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions in mainstream settings.

3.3 explain how statutory assessments contribute to provision.

Thank you

Hi a warm welcome to the site.

For the first criteria you can use these links to research how an inclusive setting ensures children on the autistic spectrum are welcomed, cared for, made to feel safe and have engaging environments that meet a child's individual needs, enabling them to learn .

Challenges involve
Training and adequate understanding of Autism.
Funding for specific resources and 1-1 support
Suitable areas and rooms where children feel comfortable - places that can have the ability to control noise, temperature and light levels. Where rules about mannerisms are applied appropriately for example should a child prefer eating food with their fingers rather than using cutlery this would be supported.

This EYE handbook has some useful reading on page 290+ if you use the look inside preview search for the words 'autistic spectrum' and scroll to page 292

http://www.autism.org.uk/professiona...ng-autism.aspx

From a parental perspective: http://www.autism.org.uk/about/in-ed...m-special.aspx

For 3.3 you need to look at the way special educational needs plans (EHC) informs a setting's planning and take observations that record the interests a child has, what they struggle with and what they find enjoyable so that suitable activities can be planned that help their learning to progress.

Special Educational Needs if you work in Wales? http://gov.wales/topics/educationand...needs/?lang=en

Hope this helps a little, best wishes
