Help SOS Making activities and materials safe?

Why is it important that you consider the health and safety implications for both the play activity and the materials used?

I m lost pleas helpppppp meeee

Hi, welcome to silkysteps. If it helps, it can be useful to look at this from the other extreme and consider what might happen if you & colleagues didn't think about the health & safety aspect of activities & the materials that everyone provided for the children to use.
eg.
What might happen if scissors had no monitored use,
if knives and forks were freely available and transportable around the setting
Materials such as soap flakes were openly available to young children and babies who may spontaneously rub their eyes and be at a development stage that has them learning about their envionment by mouthing the resources they come into contact with ..

Risk assessing activities and materials would be part of your duty of care towards the children and is a working practice that meets the expecations & standards of the childcare sector and your job ie. your title & role within the setting and your contractual duties & responsibilities.
