Could anyone help with the following question: the difference between formative and summative assessment, the use of profiling and different forms of assessment using in your setting?

K3D208: The difference between formative and summative assessment.
The difference between formative and summative assessment is that formative is an ongoing observation of children's development, were as summative is more a summary of information. For example in Education, Schools put together information about a child that they have observed or learnt throughout the year and then compile a report, which is given to the parents so they can see how their child is developing. In my setting we use one type of of observation, long observation. We then evaluate it following it by an individual learning plan.
