You should give all children equal opportunities and if you look at your setting's policies and procedures on equality, diversity and inclusion, they will state what and how your setting will provide equal opportunities to all children.

It could mean that your setting has a child with sen needs - your policies and procedures will come into play - how are you going to give a sen child the same opportunity as another child without sen?

If a child was in a wheelchair, would you expect them to sit out? or include them in the dancing?
How would you include them and ensure that they had a positive happy experience?
Perhaps you could give all children scarves and they could use them for expression and movement to the time of the music.

It you have a goalpost out for children to aim balls into, if it was too high for a child in a wheelchair you can buy a small low tripod net to aim balls through or if your setting was unable to obtain or afford one, you would have to adapt and perhaps offer plastic buckets to aim into.

Whatever activity you are providing you must ensure that all children have equality - that you are making sure they are included, that they can join in if they choose to do so. If you have sand in a pit and that child in a wheelchair or other special needs and cannot access it, you must think of how that child can join it - perhaps bring the sand up to their level - onto a table or on a small tray , so they too can enjoy every activity that is on offer at your setting. Making sure every child is included.

If you were doing a cooking activity and making pepperoni pizzas - would you expect a child who is a vegetarian to use pepperoni?
No, whatever the reason they are a vegetarian because of cultural, religious or a lifestyle choice, you would not exclude them from the activity, but by offering different choices for the topping it will allow all children to be included.
