Smile CAF - Common Assesment Framework

This guide has been put together by Sarah - Cybertwin .. Thankyou

CAF - The Common Assessment Framework

Quote:
Common Assessment Framework

A sort of guide

I have been on a couple of CAF training courses and thought this may help. I hope it does, it is my take on what happens, so please feel free to disagree or add bits

What is it?
  • CAF is the Common Assessment Framework
  • Information sharing across agencies and settings for the benefit of the child
  • Trying to avoid families having to re-tell their story on numerous occasions and being able to access all the services they need
  • To be used if the child has more than one need
  • Child protection issues still go straight to Area CP team following CP procedures
  • Parents and child must agree to CAF if no agreement no CAF
  • To be a lead professional in each CAF who co-ordinates the CAF, to be best person for child
  • Contact point will highlight if a CAF has already been started. Access will be limited and very secure. But will include personal info

Thanks for that Sarah ... I suppose I'll end up going for training eventually, but that's great for now!

PS the link at the end doesn't work!

Thats a really good piece of information on the CAF,i would just like to add one more thing and that is to try wherever possible for the CAF to be a positive document to state the things the child/family are doing well. It does need to highlight concerns but should also say what the family are doing well.

Look at the every child matters website for further information
