Default WBIS Degree

Hi everyone,
I hav'nt visited the site for a while so please accept my apologies. I was wondering if anyone has heard of or is doing a WBIS Degree in Early Years. I have been accepted on this course and would be interested to chat with others doing the same.
Thanks Emma J:reading:

Hi Farleys
WBIS is Work Based Integrated Studies Degree. I have to prove through prior knowledge and experience completing essays and reports to get the degree.

I started this degree in Sept 09 as well, but I cant really get to grips with it. I have been given some essays to write for example Observation and Assessment System and Practice 3000 words. I've written about the practice and system in place in our setting and why we use it. My tutor has said there is not enough about my personal learning in it and I hav'nt identified the skills knowledge and abilities needed. So I'm back to square one. As there as no specific questions to answer I'm struggling.
Glad I got that off my chest, it does you good to have a moan.
Thanks for listening.

For your personal learning, how about talking about what you personally learn from observations and how it helps you to help a child with their next step in learning? You could write about some of the learning and development theories. There are lots of books on theorists and their beliefs and also observations books on the market either from the library or from Amazon. Hopefully after reading how important observations are, you might hit upon a subject you like i.e. schema and you'll soon use your word count.

Thank you Heidi,
I am still struggling with this but I will give your idea a try. I have tried to list the skills, knowledge and abilities needed to observe and assess children but it looks a bit like 'Hey, look what I can do' and not so much about about the children. Will let you know how it goes.
