The behaviour you expect from children is different at different ages, such as it would be acceptable for a 2 year old to have a tantrum but not from a 5 year old. Also you would be more lenient with a younger child as their attention span is much shorter, and wouldn't be expected to sit for a long time, an older child could. Also take into consideration any special needs or behavioural problems the child may have such as ADHD, which would affect behaviour. So how do you encourage positive behaviour in your setting? List these ways such as praise, stickers, special privileges. Go through class rules. If a child displays unwanted behaviour, don't forget it's the behaviour that is unacceptable, not the child, encourage the child to understand the concequences of their actions(according to age/understanding) and once dealt with, it's forgotten.

Hope that's enough for you to be getting on with.
