K4c774, How to encourage collegues to share their knowledge more widely

Hi,
Been working on these questions all day!! Come to this one and my answer seems brief. So far i have said about having good working relationships so that people are happy to disclose their knowledge but also by being approachable, a good listener and receptive to new approaches and ideas?? Has anyone got any further direction??

You could perhaps argue the point that it's important that colleagues share their knowledge about children in the group fully - we are observing all the time and it's in the children's interests that we share this information with the child's keyperson and the child's parents in order that their next steps can be planned. It might be knowledge about how to encourage their next steps.
HOW to encourage them can be a different ball game altogether! Some 'colleagues' still believe that 'knowledge is power' and find it hard to share information. Sometimes it's necessary to acknowledge that they know more than you and thank them for telling you things in the past (flattery will get you everywhere, my Dad used to say!)
Ask their opinions, ask how THEY would tackle a problem.
