It just means that you and your work colleagues need to be reading from the same song sheet if you want the song to be pleasant to listen to!

If one colleague thinks that phonics are the best way to teach reading whilst the others only want to work on letter names (I know that won't happen but I'm trying to pick a clear example!), the children will get mixed messages, may get confused and so their reading development may be obstructed.:reading:

Everyone in the setting needs to know what is expected/required of them and should understand the big picture - the expected goals for the children.

The leader needs to be strong enough to listen to everyone's views and experiences and then to lead everyone in the same direction with the common goal of doing the best for each child. Effective communication and diplomacy are important - colleagues may have different views on an aspect of care or education but everyone needs to work together as a team.
Less experienced staff shouldn't be overlooked - leaders shouldn't just listen and then go ahead with their initial idea anyway!
