Hi, as a guide use what your setting already does to encourage your parent's participation.

This thread will help https://www.silkysteps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21040

Are you planning on drafting the letter 'Dear parents' or addressing it to individuals/families?

Consider the benefits of good working partnerships with parents that you're already aware of and can use to show how much parents mean to the operation of the setting.

Page 484 of this level 3 CYPW handbook: Benefits of working in partnership for the children - The key principles of workking in partnership are openness, trust and honesty, agreed shared goals and values, and regular communication.

and this is from the page 17 of the level 3 EYE handbook Health and Well-being unit The benefits of working in parnership with parents/carers

It is important for everyone who works with children to develop a strong partnership with the child;s parents. When it comes to the provision of food and drink, this is particulary important. By fining out abo9ut children's individual needs, we show parents that we care about their children and respect their wishes. For children with significant medical conditions or allergies, such as diabetes or a nut allergy, by working closely with parents we can reassure them that their child will be safe. This in turn will alow a chithe child to benefit from the play and educational opportunities on offer. A good relationship with parents also enables information to be shared with the setting - for example, if the child has not eaten breakfast or is selective about certain foods.

Use can also use your nation's EYs framework for wording eg. page of 13 of England's EYFS

2.1. Assessment plays an important part in helping parents, carers and practitioners to recognise children’s progress, understand their needs, and to plan activities and support. Ongoing assessment (also known as formative assessment) is an integral part of the learning and development process. It involves practitioners observing children to understand their level of achievement, interests and learning styles, and to then shape learning experiences for each child reflecting those observations. In their interactions with children, practitioners should respond to their own day-to-day observations about children’s progress and observations that parents and carers share.

Parent rotas and volunteers have many benefits to a setting. Parent's skills and interests can be utilised so that children have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities introduced and lead by individuals who have their own way of working/encouraging participation eg. through cookery, woodwork, outdoor play, ICT, musical instruments, physical activity programmes; yoga, dance.

Hth best wishes xx
