Hi, you job contract, role or list of responsibilities lays out what you're expected to do in the setting. This effectively limits or restricts your practice by putting a set of guidelines in place.
An example might be that your role limits you to recognising what a concern might be, recording information accurately, respect parent's and children's righhts, maintain confidentiality, and reporting concerns to a designated individual, rather than for example approaching parents to discuss your concerns with them directly.
Take a look at your job title and its description to see what it says about your role in safeguarding and child protection.
You'll also need a copy of your setting's child protection policy as it'll explain the procedures that all staff need to follow and enable you to compare your role.
Page 96+ of this EYE handbook looks at the types of abuse, the signs and symtoms your role and duty in protecting children expects you to know.
