Help SOS Communication

Please can somebody point me in the right direction... I don't want any answers just where I can read about it... Why is the Speed important when talking to kids.. and Why is it important that the conversation is balanced? Encourage children to develop their understanding ( giving reasons/explanations) ??? Thank you so.. much!!!

when talking to children if you talk to fast small children may not get all the conversation, they may not understand what you are saying or get the chance to reply. Child appropriate language is also important so that they understand the words you are using. A balanced conversation means that you ask questions that need more than one word answers therefore encouraging the children to use more language and learn how to converse, also you need to give them plenty of time to reply as they need time to take in what you have said to them.
