Default staff supervisions/appraisals

HI, can anyone let me know should room leaders (in a nursery setting) be undertaking their staff supervisions, Ive been told to say some home truths to a member of staff in my room but as I have to work with them full time I feel a bit uncomfortable doing this, does any other room leaders have to do this?
