Ofsted remove registration restrictions

Hi

Ofsted have recently removed restrictions from there registration eg number of children that a setting can care for.

This is on the basis that restrictions are defined in the early Years registration.

What are peoples thoughts on the implications of this?

Hi, the space allocation & adult to child ratios detailed in eyfs do set the standard, the human touch was provided more visibly by ofsted via the certification. For me it means ofsted will save on ink, postal costs & time communicating as it no longer has to include or organise the wording of restrictions on a certificate. Knowing the requirements becomes the focus instead of the restrictions. The exceptions section outlined in the ages & numbers factsheet might help reassure & dispel concerns?

Is there something specific that's happened or that the group's worried about to make you ask?

I liked that the certificate was very clear.

I worry that Ofsted could now say after an inspection we have too many children for the facilities for example. We don't but I just liked the fact that it was "agreed" in writing. I have found Ofsted to be inconsistant at times.
