Include information about ways in which the early years team can involve children and their families in making decisions about the childcare environment so it reflects the people and community that use it. E.g. talking to parents during a home visit tells the workers about the child's interests ,so that activities can be provided that he will enjoy and extend his knowledge.

Include information about what needs to be thought about when planning a positive environment for children and families. Factors may include: meeting the needs of all children and families who use the setting, the age and developmental stage of the children, working in partnership with parents, communication with parents, involving parents in developing policies, providing a safe and healthy environment, promoting the children's self esteem, resilience and a positive self-image etc
