Hi
engagement - when an activity is interesting to an individual the motivation to take part is there.
Page 10 of EYFS if you work in England
interaction - this happens when a child engages in an activity with another child, adult or a group of others.
interlinked - the areas of children's development are interconnected. For language and communication this means that through eg. Personal, Social and Emotional development, children are able to talk to, laugh with, take part and interact in ways that helps them to make relationships, build their self confidence, create situations where they learn about themselves (self awareness - what they look like, what their family structure is, what preferences they have eg. what they like and dislike) and to manage their own feelings and behaviour.
socialisation -
page 8 & 11 of EYFS
learning - is the act of discovering new information, talking about or looking at that information in ways that have meaning to the individual. In early years settings this happens through play - search for 'free flow' and click to
page 178 of this EYE handbook
planning - ensures there are opportunities for children to come together and to be alone if wanted so that they can communicate with each other and understand themselves - table top activities, around a sand & water tray, circle time songs.
monitoring - how does your setting monitor children's development?
assessment -
page 13 of EYFS include details of how your setting uses assessment.
confidence - is needed to communicate and talk to others.
