Help SOS Is an IEP required?

Hi have just been made SENCO as our colleague has left and am in need of a bit of reassurance. A child in our setting is under a speech and language therapist so am i right in saying he should have an IEP? We actually have 2 children who see a speech and language therapist and one other child who we are monitoring for speech problems. We have spoken to this mum and said we are keeping an eye on it, should we be doing anything else at this stage other than obs as she is not seeing a speech and language therapist?

Yes an I.E.P should be put in place, this is also a good idea for any child who is struggling with certain aspects of development, giving them small goals to aim for and how you hope to help them achieve them

In our area when under speech and language therapist they do an IEP and send it to us so the care is continuous for the child between professionals.. has been like this for a long time now.. with EYFS and sharing information it may be worth asking if you can contact them to find out what they are doing with the children involved so you can use this in your IEP.

Thanks for replies, spoke to mum today and she said that she would bring in the worksheets so we can work with him at our setting.
