Default Throw in the towel

AAARRRGGG I am sooo frustrated and stressed. I have been a blubbering mess since last night. I am reall struggling with this course and am feeling that i should just give it up.
My tutor provides no training, i see her once a month and that is just to hand in my work and she sets me more. I asked for for her help regarding cross referencing 2 units and she said i could not, no explanation as to why or guidance. One f the questions (cant remember which) we agreed months ago was going to be covered in a personal discussion. When i reminded her of this recently her answer was 'i didnt think we were doing personal discussions!!!!! Bearing in mind that we have already done some this frustrated me no end.

I am currently struggling on multi agency working. My setting has not had any contact with multi agency working for a number of years (before I started there) so i have reasearched for days.
My head is in a pickle and i really feel that this is beyone me now. The only support i get is from silkysteps, google and my family (who have no clue on the subjects but try and offer emotional support. )

I have done so much on this course but i am not sure i can carry on now,
Sorry for the rant

Default I am struggling

Hi i know exactly how you feel. I am currently working on the multi agency one and finding it hard as being a childminder. Maybe we can help each other what questions are you struggling with.
I think we all have bad days with this course, but hopefully it will be all worth it at the end x

I think i am having a bad week lol
Stuck on
analyse how intergrated working practices and multi agncy working in partnership deliver better outcomes for C&YP
Explain how effective multi agency working operates within early years provisions and benefits children and carers.
I have been asked to link these together in answeing this question
Identify and analyse 2 examples of C&YP who are supported by multi agency partnerships ( consider the holistic needs and relate to ECM outcomes)
I have to make up my own examples and analyse them!!!!!!
I am struggling on the examples!!! do i need to make up a senario and then analyse how the agencies support the child and family (bearing in mind that if the family need support the childs welfare and needs will be at the centre of the referal)

My head is spinning

Please dont give up!

I am a Childminder who is just finishing the course after 2 years. I must admit there was a time where I felt lost but you do get through it. Multi agency working could be anything from Childminder to Preschool, Health Visitor, Doctor and further on to Speech therapist, educational welfare officer, special needs support, play therapist.

As a childminder I can look at development delay liaising with the Preschool (parental permission) or I had a little girl in my care who had speech delay and alerted her parents who contacted their health visitor and she was assessed and a structure we all worked to helped her to catch up.

There is usually something - it doesnt have to be a biggie that you can look at and you may have to be creative and write a 'what if' account

I am on this unit now and finding it as I am a childminder who has not had to deal with anyone else apart from a child's nursery worker.

Taken from Penny Tassoni CYPW diploma level 3 page 166 onwards

"Multi-agency working refers to different services, agencies, teams of professionals and other practitioners working together to provide the services that meet the needs of children, their parents and carers."

"Some early years settings, such as nursery schools, may have a simpler form of integrated working by offering an extended day to support working parents, thus combining early education and childcare. In these ways different agencies can work closely together for the benefit of each child".

So intergrated is "in house", e.g children's centers and early years settings (surestart) same building providing care and services.
Multi-agency working is either getting services in to the setting or referring the parent/child to outside services I think.

Professionals who may work together to support the child are: Health visitors (speech language therapist), colleagues from other early years settings, advisers, social workers, play specialists, mentors, parents/carers.

Liz 4999 has it spot on.

Hope this helps for this part

Angela

Penni Tassoni book says

Read the EYFS "unique child" principles into practice card 1.2 and see if you can highlight suggestions where multi-agency practice will support an inclusive practice.

The card says " Some children's development may be at risk e.g. children who are disabled and those with special educational needs, those from socially excluded families such as the homeless or those who live with a parent who is disabled or has a mental illness".

So children with disabilities you may need to consult with their specialist to see if they need special equipment, or the doctor if they have regular medication etc.

I seem to be confusing myself here lol but it seems to make sense to me.

Hope this helps

Angela

Taken from Penny Tassoni book page 169

Example 1: A child who is looked after by a childminder may attend more than one setting. e.g. the child may have breakfast and tea with the childminder and go to a nursery during the day. Transitions can be difficult for a child in such cases, if the adults involved can share relevant information about key things that may have happened to the child, this can help to make the child's experience more positive. All information should be shared with the parent.

Example 2: If a child who attends a nursey in a childrens centre is referred to a speech and language theropist they may be able to see them in the same building. The observation and assessment of the child's needs would become and easier and less daunting process if the services are in close proximity and can communicate with each other on a regular basis. It may also be easier for parents to be involved in the process if they do not have to take long journeys that may be difficult for a variety of reasons.

Example 3: A young child whose family are refugees will need the teachers and adults working with them at school to understand their culture, the community they may be living in and their families situation. It will be essential for social workers or workers from voluntary organisations to work together to support the needs of the child and their family. Although the school might not be able to support all the issues, which could range from housing to employment, they could be an important point of contact for the family.

The end lol

I cannnot thank you ladies enough, Massive cyber hug to you all lol.
I took time out from coursework yesterday and got back to basics working with the children and that helped me put things back into perspective. I have come so far to quit now and love my job too much. If improving myself benefits the children i look after then i need to complete this course no matter how frustrating and hard it may seem at times.
Thanks sooo much to you all esp to angelinthegarden xxx
If i can support or help any of you in the future pls let me know
