Hiya, forming judgements too soon can stop you from being objective, seeing the whole picture and may prevent you from being professional.

Premature judgement / assumption / steryotype / discrimination

Definition of prejudgement from freedictionary.com

As an example, premature judgement may cause you to react negatively to a new bruise on a child's leg, feel that it is there as a result of abuse and begin procedures to report these concerns in accordance with your approach to Child protection. In opposition to this premature judgement that all is well with the injury may also be a risk.

By following procedure without forming early judgement - reporting / entering details - injuries/exising injuries/accident/bumps and bruises book, signing and asking parents to sign you may find that the Child fell from their scooter the day before or that a pattern of accident reports develop.

What is Child abuse from NSPCC
Article from wikipedia - suspension of judgement

If anyone has more to add to this, please feel free to post

Hth xx
