Disability may affect a child’s development, early intervention is essential so that specific equipment can be arranged for the child’s needs. It is important not to stereotype children with disabilities as this can lead to low expectations which can be harmful to the child as this can in turn make the child’s expectations lower, instead focus should be on ways of overcoming the disability to enable the child to reach their potential. If a parent is disabled the child may then become the carer which could affect educational and social aspects of the child’s life.
