Muddy pig paint and colour blending activity
have fun mark making with paint as children role play with pig stampers and colour blend to experiement with red, green/ blue and yellow paint to make brown mud coloured flooring.

pig Activity resources
pink, white or peach coloured card
  access to a printer
  glue
  curled ribbon or paper strips for piggy tails
  felt or foam padding
  red, green and yellow poster paint
  green drinking straws
  scissors - left handed & right
  A4 base paper or larger if providing for a group activity
  sawdust as an additional medium

pig    Making the paint stampers
1. print out a required number of pig templates on card
2. fold the pigs in half at the point where the heads meet.
3. trim the outline
4. fold out the base tabs
5 position and stick a curled length of ribbon or paper as the pig's tail
6. glue the body sections together leaving the tabs facing outwards
7. fold the tabs so that the pig is able to  stand and cover with quantity of glue over the base and stick to a thickness of foam or padding. Cut this to fit



Conversation
  Introduce how pigs enjoy rooting around trees in search of truffles - a fungi to eat
  Use scissors and green drinking straws to create grass and sawdust to add texture to the paint
  Identify the paint colours you'll be using to make brown and blend to see the change ..
  Role play with the pig stampers  
  Discuss how we use cream to protect our skin from the hot sun and pigs use mud to cool themselves down and that also protects their skin from sunburn.
