As Santa's transport each story-filled year the reindeer sleigh
is a magical sign that means gifts on their way!
|
|
Pre-make sleighs, the PVC base, brown playdough and source a variety
of festive decorations to fill the sleigh tub once it's had the illustrated
wraps attached. Roll balls of dough for legs, body, neck and head and
build reindeers that can have antlers added, a nose and eyes.
Artificial snow adds texture to the scenery that can be blended
into the dough as children's play progresses.

Assembling the sleigh and base runner
Preparing the sleigh tub and base runnner involves tools
that need to be used in a risk assessed area.
Remove the tub's upper rim with scissors and position on
one end of the PVC foam board. Mark out around each end corner and measure
the width to cut the length of the board.
Cut out with a craft knife and round out the corners with
scissors.
Punch two holes on one end edge and tie on a short cord
handle.
Remove any protective film the board may have.
Print and cut out the sleigh's two side pictures and
wrap them around the outer surface of the tub using the double sided
sticky foam to secure them in place. Trim any overlap.
Place a length of sticky foam the the underside of the tub
and position on the end of the base runner.
Make the reindeer harness by punching 2 holes at
the front of the sleigh tub and snipping down into the hole with scissors.
Take the end bead of a one short length and slot it down into the hole.
Tether these onto the playdough reindeers.
Fill the sleigh with short sections of tinsel, tree beads, jewellery
gift boxes or other items to enjoy the role play experience of a reindeer
sleigh.
