Source festive wrap, cellophane, paper, foil, fabrics
and build fir or pine cone patterns.
Resources needed for collage
A variety of collaging papers, cards, fabrics, sandpaper,
felts, foils and plastics.
2 cone templates if making message cards.
hole punch
cord or string
pen, glue and scissors
real fir cones to explore shape, texture, scales, stalk, top,
bottom, open closed ..
Completed cones can be hang as decorations from a celebration tree,
a window or outdoors if undercover. Add mark making to the activity
and text / symbol messages to the back of the cone template. Promote
how closely you work in partnership with parents by including notes
on the children's day of activity ..

To make ..
Cut two cone templates from card.
Position togehter and punch a hole in
the top. Join with a piece of cord or string.
Write a greeting, name or other information
on the back of one cone template.
This
can be inline with home to setting - setting to home communications
and children's activity sharing.
Using the collage papers and glitter if wanted,
cut out triangle or tear shaped scales and glue into
place on the upper template.

ACTIVITY IDEAS:
Explore the cones as part of sensory play.
Include them in dough play, sand and water
to discover if a cone floats or sinks ..
Change the currency used in the role play
area and buy shopping from an Elf store with
cones as money ...
Hold real cones upside down and shake
- if seed are releases see if they will germinate..
