Assemble ..
Print a copy of the elephant body, trunk and cut out.
Cut away the central blackened area on the body.
Fold down the top tab on the trunk and stick to the dashed line
just below the elephant's eyes.
Colour or collage elephant as wished.
Use a paper punch to cut a small hole at the end of the trunk
- if possible strengthen this hole with a stationary ring reinforcer.
Tie a length of wool/cord through the hole and secure in place.
Atach cut, ripped and torn paper droplets, sticker droplets,
sequins or beads.
Play with the elephant
puppet by placing two fingers through the cut away area to move
the trunk and shower strings with up and down movements.
Extend the idea to a wall
..
From a single point, organise and arrange strips of tape -
sticky side up to radiate outwards in a fan shape.
Disguise this single point by attaching a printout of the
elepant over the top.
Display a range of loose media for the children
to drop by, visit and take part in snipping, scrunching, colour
filling, positioning and placing beads, sequins, reflective and
sparkly items to the upturned sticky tape...
Other ideas ..
Set jungle and desert scenes with small world figures, pebbles,
foliage, sand and soil.
Trim beaded or trailing door curtains - if length could be a
risk and place at the entrance to camps, dens, around the edge of
tables forming fringes that add a sensory experience to the area.
Add tubes, piping, guttering to water play areas and explore
the length of an elephant's trunk, the distance water travels inside
and where it may end up.
