Wrist watch, clock and time activities
print, cut out, and build wrist watch inventions as children
select their own coloured straps and discuss significant times of the
day.
|
|
Fixing the watch in place
Once children's prefered strap colour has been choosen,
attach a face dial with a small piece of scrunched up sticky tape, glue
or foam pad and then wrap the length comfortably aroundthe child's wrist
securing it in place with another piece of sticky tape. Check children
undertand that the paper watch can come off at any time they want by ripping
the strap apart or by asking fsomeone to remove it for them. Include how
new ones can be easily made.

During your activities chat about time, O clock, hour, minutes,
daily events and their routines eg. waking up, toothbrushing, breakfast,
preschool, snack, lunch, home time, evening meal, bath, toothbrushing,
storytime, bed - storybooks
that feature routines
|
Invite role play with the wrist watches and see who needs
to go to the shops, the park, walk their dog, feed their cat, take the
car to the garage, make a doctors appointment or visit the dentist ...
Books and resources to
support an early awareness of time and routine
Even with other author titles available, if you can get
hold of a copy of What's the time Mr Wolf by Colin Hawkins it's
an older publication that's a real worthy buy.
